a quick drawing of suul when she was a witch.
sorry i haven’t been around much lately, i’ve been busy with freelance work. there is no way i’ll have hemlock #5 done by autumn, but! i’m planning on making a hemlock sketchbook type of deal to debut at SPX. if you have any suggestions on what kind of things you’d like to see in it, let me know! i’m thinking things from hemlock that won’t necessarily come up in the story, like how everyone looked as kids, or suul’s original incarnation here.
alright, so i’m giving this a test run! i find it impossible to do sketches at cons and be a salesperson at the same time, so instead, i’m offering A5 b&w ink pre-convention commissions at a special price of £10 each, with the original to be picked up at MCM Expo. all my commission details are here! last orders 20th May. closed early because freelance work came up. thank you everybody that took up the offer!
this is my current convention plan for the year, if this works i’ll offer it again for future cons:
- MCM Expo, London 23 – 25 May
- LFCC (with Zukes Comics), London 12-13 July
- Comica Comiket, London 16 August
- SPX, Bethesda, MD 13-14 September
- MCM Expo, London October (TBC)
- Thought Bubble, Leeds 15-16 November
kikimora character turnaround for an MA application portfolio i’ve been working on.
here’s a question i was wondering if anyone had the answer to! since my computer had its meltdown in january it won’t let me use CS4 anymore so i moved to CS6, but when i resize images it sometimes leaves this lighter line between the lineart and the colours (you can see it on kiki’s hair here) whether i do bicubic automatic or sharper or whatever. what’s with that?
thanks for the answers guys! looks like bilinear is the way to go.
don’t jinx it…
thank you for all your lovely comments last week everyone! you’re all so patient with me (◡‿◡✿) i hope you’ll be patient with this scene too, it’s one of those that really needs to be read all in one go i’m afraid..
selling things again! help me get to SPX!
hey everybody, i’m being ~that guy~ again.
i got into SPX! it’s gonna be my first convention outside of the UK, i’m pretty excited! but with my computer still on the verge of death and airplane tickets this is gonna be an expensive year, so i’m selling a bunch of stuff.
this is mainly aimed at UK people and people i know irl, because international shipping gets pricy, but if there’s something you really want shoot me an email at email@example.com and i’ll let you know how much shipping would be!
or if you don’t see anything, please help out by sharing this!
on to the list:
Hey there! I recently stumbled upon your webcoic Hemlock and it is super amazing >u< I love it! I have a question though; you haven't updated it in a little while, and I haven't seen any news about a hiatus or anything, so I wanted to ask what was going on with it...? Not trying to rush you or anything, I'm just curious! ovo
i need to be brutally honest guys, there isn’t a “good” reason or excuse that it hasn’t updated in a while.
mostly it’s just been really difficult to get back into it after being away for so long. i try drawing pages and it’s like they just won’t come out, or the pencils will look fine, but then the inks look terrible. pages 5.05 and 5.06 do exist, but i’m so unhappy with them that i think i’m going to do them again. i think once i can get past those two pages things will start continuing again, but i’ve been having trouble concentrating or drawing anything recently, so it’s not exclusive to hemlock. i definitely don’t want to abandon it, especially with only two chapters left now! i’m gonna see it through! it’s just taking a lot longer than i hoped orz
Hemlock fanart for today’s warmup. something more spectacular next time I attempt this i think….
look you guys! claude’s been doing inky drawings lately and he made a hemlock one! :o
the exclusive cover i did for london super comic con has been revealed, so i think it’s ok to post it here now!
it’s going to be limited to 500 copies and you can pre-order it here to make sure you don’t miss out! i’ll also be at boom’s tables all weekend doing sketch covers, come and say hello!
